LaLiga Santander is crowned as the world’s strongest league of the decade

Spanish teams enjoyed the most success on the continent between 2011 and 2020 and this has been reflected by IFFHS’s latest ranking. FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are named the two best teams of the decade as well

Between 2011 and 2020, Spanish clubs dominated European club football. Over these 10 years, the Champions League was won by a LaLiga Santander side on six occasions, with Real Madrid claiming four and FC Barcelona two. Meanwhile, the Europa League was also won by a team from Spain six times, as Sevilla FC lifted it on four occasions and Atlético Madrid twice. All this means that eight of the past 10 UEFA Super Cups featured at least one Spanish side, with seven victories for the LaLiga teams.

Given all the UEFA confetti that has fallen on the shoulders of LaLiga players over this past decade, it’s little surprise that Spain’s top division has been crowned as the world’s strongest national league for the 2011 to 2020 decade by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). In nine of these years, LaLiga Santander topped the annual IFFHS awards for the world’s strongest national league.

The IFFHS have also ranked clubs for their success and consistency over the past decade and FC Barcelona have finished top of their ranking, retaining their title as the best team of the decade after also claiming this honour from the IFFHS for the 2001 to 2010 decade. Just behind FC Barcelona are Real Madrid, while Atlético Madrid are fifth in the ranking of clubs over the past decade, only behind third-ranked Bayern Munich and fourth-ranked PSG. And ahead of sixth-ranked Juventus and seventh-ranked Chelsea. This means that Spain has three teams in the top seven of the ranking for the past decade, while no other nation has more than one representative in that gap.

Considering the star players that have performed to the highest level in Spain over the past years, it makes sense that the country’s clubs have performed so consistently well. The Ballon d’Or award for each calendar year’s best footballer wasn’t held in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but in the other nine years of the past decade it always went to a player based in Spain. It went to FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi four times, to Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo four times and to Real Madrid’s Luka Modrić once. On four occasions (2011, 2012, 2015 and 2016), the entire podium was Spain-based.

LaLiga maintains its position in the Brand Finance 2021 ranking, among the most valuable brands in Spain

Even off the pitch, LaLiga had a very strong decade. Clubs have significantly improved their finances and reduced debt thanks to the economic control regulations brought in after Javier Tebas assumed the presidency in 2013, while audience has grown in markets across the planet following the launch of LaLiga’s global network.

A lot of work has gone into improving the visibility of LaLiga’s brand and this has been reflected in LaLiga’s improved standing in the ranking produced by consultancy firm Brand Finance, with LaLiga rated as the eighth strongest and the 36th most valuable brand in all of Spain for 2021, even while the sports industry has been one of the hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

At the beginning of this new decade, LaLiga clubs are in a good position to emerge from the coronavirus pandemic stronger than ever. LaLiga teams acted very responsibly in the first two transfer markets following the emergence of COVID-19, reducing their spending enough to achieve a net gain of €38m at the same time as their competitors in Europe’s other major leagues ran aggregate deficits.

In the long term, this means that LaLiga clubs can remain in good health. Even in the short term, all seven LaLiga Santander clubs that entered UEFA competition in 2020/21 progressed through their groups as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and Sevilla FC reached the Champions League knockouts and as Granada CF, Real Sociedad and Villarreal CF made it to the Europa League knockouts. No other association had seven of their clubs make it through their groups, just like no other association celebrated six Champions League and six Europa League titles between 2011 and 2020.

The battle for LaLiga’s title

The 2020/21 LaLiga Santander season looks to be a three-horse race coming into the final stretch. Here’s all you need to know.

Diego Simeone’s Atletico de Madrid have sat atop the LaLiga Santander standings for much of the season but just six points separate them, FC Barcelona in second, and reigning champions Real Madrid. The title race looks set to go the wire, with all three eager to avoid a slip-up which could derail their chances and hand the advantage to their rivals.

“Neither Real Madrid nor Barcelona will lose another match,” Simeone predicted in early March, but we’ve already seen so many shock results this LaLiga Santander campaign that there are no guarantees.

Here’s all you need to know about the final stretch of the title race: who’s involved, where they stand, the games they have left… so you can judge for yourself where you think points, and ultimately the LaLiga title, will be won and lost.

Atlético de Madrid

Current position: 1st (66 points)

Next fixture: Sevilla FC (away), Sunday April 4th – 9pm CET

Remaining fixtures: Real Betis (away), Huesca (home), Athletic Club (away), SD Eibar (home), Elche CF (away), FC Barcelona (away), Real Sociedad (home), CA Osasuna (home), Real Valladolid (away)

The last time Atleti won LaLiga Santander, it went down to the final day as they took the 2013/14 title with a draw away against Barcelona at the Camp Nou. Given how tight this title race promises to be, it could go down to the wire once again. This year, their Matchday 38 fixture is away at Real Valladolid, who could need points in the relegation battle.

A visit to the Camp Nou is also in the pipeline for Matchday 35. Barcelona and Atleti will meet in a six-pointer that could even be labelled as a seven-pointer since the head-to-head tiebreaker is at stake, which Atleti currently hold after beating the Catalans 1-0 earlier this season at the Wanda Metropolitano.

FC Barcelona

Current position: 2nd (62 points)

Next fixture: Real Valladolid (home), Monday April 5th – 9pm CET

Remaining fixtures: Real Madrid (away), Getafe CF (home), Villarreal CF (away), Granada CF (home), Valencia CF (away), Atlético de Madrid (home), Levante UD (away), RC Celta (home), SD Eibar (away)

Barcelona have been in great form domestically in the calendar year of 2021 and approach the final stretch of the season with tremendous momentum. With several top-half-of-the-table sides remaining on their schedule, they’ll need all the momentum they can muster as they look to pick up three points week after week.

Two games stand out for Ronald Koeman’s side. The first is ElClasico away at Real Madrid in little over a week (Saturday April 10th, 9pm CET), in which they look to avenge their 3-1 defeat at the Camp Nou earlier this season; and then the visit of Atleti to the Camp Nou with four matches remaining. These head-to-head clashes will likely be decisive, for better or for worse!

Real Madrid

Current position: 3rd (60 points)

Next fixture: SD Eibar (home), Saturday April 3rd – 4.15pm CET

Remaining fixtures: FC Barcelona (home), Cádiz CF (away), Real Betis (home), Getafe CF (away), CA Osasuna (home), Sevilla FC (home), Granada CF (away), Athletic Club (away), Villarreal CF (home)

Real Madrid are only to aware of the importance of finishing the season strong. Los Blancos claimed the 2019/20 championship by winning their final ten matches in a row following the return from the COVID-19 lockdown, mathematically sealing top spot with a round to spare. They face a difficult final few week of this campaign and Zinedine Zidane will look to bring back that essential winning mentality if he expects his side to stay in the hunt.

There are some really challenging dates remaining in Real Madrid’s diary, not least ElClasico at home to Barcelona. Then, three of their final four matches of the season are against teams who qualified for European competition last year.

8 Best Irresistible Pandan Cakes

There is nothing more popular than a lovely, fluffy cake sweet-smelling with rich pandan and coconut.

If you want to order a variety of pandan cakes, we suggest visiting Pandan Cake Delivery from Malaysia’s best bakers.

Find out what pandan is and where you can get it. Know about the flavor of pandan leaves, including details on pandan cake types as well as a delicious pandan cake baker shop.

The flavor of pandan has an irresistible quality to it. It has a rich, vanilla-like sweetness to it but with delicate vegetal undertones that offer bright freshness. It has a seductive lemak quality to it as well.

What is Pandan?

Pandan (a.k.a. screwpine) is a flowering tree consisting of long blade-like green leaves. It comes from Southeast Asia and has a flavoring characteristic that makes it a classic natural flavor for dishes and desserts.

Taste:

Although often compared with vanilla, this is mainly due to its everyday use in cooking in different south-east Asian countries.

The truth is that raw pandan tastes very grassy.

However, when pandan cake is prepared with different dishes and desserts, the taste is very special and can be defined as a creamy, slightly nutty, banana-leafy coconut. These flavors, however, are primarily derived from other ingredients usually combined with cocoa, lemon, and other garnishes.

Pandan is another popular ingredient in Malaysian desserts. Like Ube, its stunning color is recognized. Unlike Ube, the color is not as bright naturally.

Therefore, suji-leaves (which look very similar to pandan-leaves) are generally combined to intensify greenery. It is also used in many Malaysian desserts as an alternative flavor: cookies, pastries, ice cream, and other sweets.

It is traditionally also served in a young coconut dessert called buko pandan (buko means coconut in Tagalog).

We have even put together a list of the best 8 pandan cakes.

  1. Pandan Gula Melaka Cake
  2. Pandan Gula Melaka Bites
  3. Cendol Cake 8″
  4. Pandan Coconut Cake
  5. Pandan Gula Melaka Chiffon Cake 8″
  6. Pandan Layer Cake 6″
  7. Pandan Gula Melaka Layer Cake 8″
  8. Pandan Kaya Mille Crepe 9″

Where can I get the best pandan cake?

Pandan can be served in restaurants and eateries serving. Also, Pandan Cake Delivery from Malaysia’s best bakers uses this unique taste in their pandan cakes. You can reach us if you want to try it for yourself.

How to make pandan cake?

Pandan can be used to make various treats since it is a flavoring agent rather than a particular form of food. One of them is this basic cake recipe, which can create a variety of other uniquely flavored baked goods in the future.

According to one of Malaysia’s best bakers, who created his own pandan cake recipes.

The excellent fragrance from freshly squeezed pandan leaf juice (he suggests using “80g to 100g” of pandan leaves per cake if you want to make your own pandan juice), a noticeable richness from coconut milk, and a light and fluffy texture with some structure Yeah, it’s time to chuck-out the bottle of artificial pandan essence that’s been lurking in your fridge. The cake should also not be so soft and airy that it ‘evaporates’ or crumbles to bits when you bite it.

You can also make a Vegan Pandan Gula Melaka cake, combined with the fragrant Pandan aroma, makes them truly irresistible.

Your local stores don’t have the cake you are looking for? You don’t have to worry if you find it a little challenging to make your favorite cake. You can order one online. We guaranteed are that our online store will meet your needs—shop for one of your favorite pandan cakes.

The Asian influence in LaLiga

While interest in LaLiga grows across Asia, some of the continent’s most high-profile talents are already making a lasting impression on Spanish football.

The new partnership between LaLiga and M88 will continue promoting Spanish football in Asia for the next four seasons, continuing a recent trend of growth that has seen LaLiga become one of the continent’s most popular sporting competitions.

Part of this success is thanks to the many Asian players who have performed at the highest level in the top two divisions of the Spanish footballing pyramid.

These players have been testing themselves in the best league in the world and have stood out, providing unforgettable moments for their teams. In the 2020/21 season, there are seven Asian players across Spain’s top two tiers. Below we take a detailed look at four of them who have been able to make their mark.

The trendsetter: Takashi Inui (Eibar)

Of the Asian players currently in LaLiga, Takashi Inui was the first to arrive. In 2015, the opportunity to join Eibar came up and the Japan international took it, moving from Eintracht Frankfurt to a small club from northern Spain to fulfil his dream of playing in LaLiga Santander.

He immediately lit up the competition during a three-year spell with Eibar and that earned him a move to Real Betis in 2018. After half a season wearing green and white and another half a season on loan at Alavés, Inui returned to Eibar and is once again one of coach José Luis Mendilibar’s favourite players. He’s also now a mentor for his international teammate Yoshinori Muto, with Eibar becoming the first club to have two Japanese players in the same squad in LaLiga Santander history.

There have been several great Inui moments, such as his performance at the Camp Nou on the final day of the 2016/17 season when he put Eibar 2-0 up against Barcelona. Although the Catalan side came back to win 4-2, that’s a moment that Eibar fans still remember.

The star signing: Wu Lei (Espanyol de Barcelona)

Wu Lei’s transfer to RCD Espanyol de Barcelona in January of 2019 was absolutely huge in his native China. Having scored 102 goals in the Chinese Super League for Shanghai SIPG, he was the second top scorer in that league’s history and his arrival at the Catalan club helped them go on and qualify for Europe at the end of the 2018/19 season. Wu Lei scored in the 2-0 win over Real Sociedad that secured the club’s return to European competition after a 12-year absence.

There have been other memorable Wu Lei moments too, none more thrilling than his 88th minute equaliser in a home derby against Barcelona at the start of 2020. That goal earned Espanyol de Barcelona a 2-2 draw against their biggest rivals.

Wu Lei remains a focal point in his team’s attack. Given his huge profile in his home country, Espanyol de Barcelona have become one of the most followed clubs in China. Thanks to the 29-year-old’s contributions, Espanyol de Barcelona have charged up the table in LaLiga SmartBank and are currently league leaders.

The seasoned pro: Shinji Okazaki (Huesca)

With Shinji Okazaki to turn 35 years of age in 2021, the Japanese striker is a seasoned pro who has already enjoyed success in England and in Germany and with his national team. Before retiring, he wanted to play in Spain and this led him to join Huesca in the summer of 2019.

In his first Spanish season, Okazaki used his experience to help Huesca win LaLiga SmartBank and promotion into Spain’s top tier. With his 12 goals, Okazaki was the team’s top scorer during that promotion season. Now he is in the top division of Spanish football and opened his LaLiga Santander account with a beautiful goal in a 3-3 draw against Granada. Spotting the opposition goalkeeper off his line, the Japanese forward first-time curled the ball over everyone and into the net from distance to announce his arrival in Spain’s top division.

The future: Takefusa Kubo (Getafe)

Takefusa Kubo is regarded as one of the brightest stars of Asian football. After spending time in Barcelona’s La Masia academy as a youngster, the winger returned to his home country of Japan to take his first steps in senior football with FC Tokyo and Yokohama F. Marinos, before signing for Real Madrid in 2019.

After a dazzling pre-season for Zinedine Zidane’s side, several LaLiga Santander teams wanted to sign him on loan and RCD Mallorca won that race. Kubo played with the islanders in 2019/20 and was one of their best players as they battled in the top fight.

This season, the 19-year-old has gone out on loan again. For the first half of 2020/21, he was at Villarreal and made his debut in UEFA competition as he helped the Yellow Submarine progress from the group stages. Now, he’ll spend the second half of the campaign on loan at southern Madrid side Getafe, where he has immediately impressed coach José Bordalás.
