(PUTRAJAYA, MAY 22) Earlier in the evening, our Minister of Defence Ismail Sabri held a joint press conference with Director-General of Health Dr. Noor Hisham to address the latest Covid-19 situation and announce the latest SOPs for MCO 3.0.
Sabri started by mentioning that he understands that many people are worried due to the drastic increase in confirmed cases, but clarified that if MCO similar to the first lockdown were to be introduced, the livelihood of many people that rely on daily business activities to survive will be heavily impacted. Therefore, in order to curb the spread of the pandemic, a more tightened SOP will be implemented for the current MCO 3.0 instead of a total lockdown.
Aside from implementing more tightened SOPs, more roadblocks will also be introduced and the number of those working from the office will be reduced. Business operation hours will be shortened as well.
More than 80% of civil servants and 40% of the workforce from the private sector are to work from home. F&B outlets will only be allowed to operate between 8am to 8pm. Public transport will be limited to 50% capacity with reduced frequency.
The above will be imposed in peninsula Malaysia from May 25 onwards. More details can be found on the MKN website.
He also stressed that MySejahtera scanning is compulsory for anyone entering any premises.
More to come…
