Interstate Traveling Permitted Nationwide Starting Tomorrow (Oct 11)

(Kuala Lumpur, Oct 10) Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob held a special media conference this afternoon, announcing that interstate traveling & overseas traveling are permitted nationwide starting tomorrow (Oct 11, 2021).

He started by mentioning that it was a tough decision to forbid interstate traveling even though the government understands that some families would not be able to see each other for a while. Throughout this period, although the government understood that this decision is not favorable, a decision must be made to reduce the number of daily Covid-19 cases.

Therefore he is happy to announce that the adult vaccination rate has achieved 90% and the interstate travel ban will be lifted starting tomorrow, Oct 11, for fully vaccinated individuals. All local tourism activities will also be allowed.

However, traveling into PKPD (EMCO) areas is still not permitted.

He also reminded rakyat that even though interstate traveling is now allowed, but SOP must still be followed or strict actions will be taken. He further reminded whoever that wish to cross state to perform self-test and make sure that he/she is negative before doing so.

The second announcement is regarding overseas traveling. Starting tomorrow 11 Oct 2021, those who are fully vaccinated will be allowed to travel overseas without applying for My Travel Pass.

Those who are returning to Malaysia has to perform swab test 3 days prior to the return, and another swab test upon arriving in Malaysia. A 14-day home quarantine is also required for Malaysians returning to the country.

However, Malaysia’s borders are still closed to foreign tourists.
